Hello from Denmark to all you Gentlemen / people
Now it is time to introduce myself to this forum. My name is Dan Bay.
My first straight razor shave was back in 1973. I had joined the merchant navy, and the beard growth was almost not there, but from time to time there was some fluffy stuff to clear off.
Somewhere in the Mediterranean area I got hold of a new straight razor, I forgot where, but I still remember how I did look the first time shaving, bloody ….. , only tried a few times again, and somehow the razor got lost.
But all the years I did wet shave, primarily “Gillette”, first DE and then all the way to 3 blades, when this manufacturer started overpricing and then later put 5 blades in their disposable razors, I got hold of an antique DE and took up DE shaving again.
Then in 2011 I bought a DOVO straight in Germany – by now I can shave without bleeding – too much.
But somehow I have experienced the strange phenomenon, that one razor (neither male nor female) can multiply – now I have more than 15.
Some from e-bay, some from the Swedish site “Tradera” others from an auction on “Lauritz.com” and 2 bought in antique shops. Most are properly worth a lot less than I paid.
At this time my DOVO is not shave ready any more.
And I have send Neil Miller 2 of my “multiplied” razors, 1 (Mappin and Webb) for refurbishment, another (Dubl Duck) for being made shave ready. Looking forward to have them back, - and just bought (mail ordered) a Thiers Issard, I will hopefully have that one next week. Then I will bee back to straight razor shaving again.
Thanks to Lynn and all of you for this site and your community, I'm happy for being able to join.
Sincerely
Dan M. Bay
