There is some VDH soap at target that is part of the Luxury set rather than the one a walmart which is deluxe. Never tried it, but the deluxe is actually really good. And good luck out at the MTC!

Yeah, I think Target sells decent soaps as well (based on what I've read), but their selection may depend entirely upon your location as well, i.e. not all stores will carry all the same items.
It is possible to get a decent cutthroat shave with canned goo (I use Barbasol sometimes when I'm in a rush), so you can test out your razor's sharpness without "proper" soap and brush. Give it a go and let us know how the razor performed.

Thankyou very much for the help Parker and Maple. I'm going to head down to walmart and test shaving tonight. I can imagine how much of a difference the brush and soap will make in comparison to the average shaving cream I've been using.

I'll bet you it will! Never tried a straight with canned goo, I don't think I will, but, it made a heck a lot of a difference when using a multi-blade razor. so I don't see why It wouldn't make a huge difference with a straight!
