Sorry about the :HJ
Mea culpa and all that jazz.
That razor will last you a lifetime. Yes, there are more costly options out there but if I was buying a new razor that's one of the ones that would be at the top of my list.
For the strop paste, I own 3 strops and zero pastes other than tooth and butt (for the baby, I swear).
Welcome to SRP :)
I did a quick search of the SRP member list for "Dallas". Here is the result. Just send them a PM or email .

Good ! I see that you have found the Get Togethers & Meetings forum. :)
Just keep your eye on that forum, look at threads from past Razor Meets and you will see a whole bunch of people in your area that can help you get started.
You'll need to strop your razor before or after every shave. There are a couple of decent quality, inexpensive strips out there. Whipped Dog and Star Shaving ccome to mind.
I've used both and I also have an SRD strop that I love.
I'm a big fan of the buy once, cry once philosophy. If you get a nicer strop you wont want to mess it up so it will stay nice.
That being said starting with a cheaper strop and planning on a more expensive one will let you end up with a travel strop or a strop for pasting, if you go that route. I know a fellow or two that use an unpasted strop daily and a pasted strop every couple months and then send out their only razor for a good honing every 12-18 months.
