I started using a new acronym the other day,GDS. Guard Duty Smooth....
Hi and welcome to SRP Brian! :)
Hello Brian and welcome from another newbie and active duty member. Can I ask what branch, where you stationed, and what is your MOS?
Army, fort Stewart, 13b, 8 years TIS. what is 13e? Must be old because I've never heard of it lol. Getting ready to go to Afghanistan in a couple months. This will be my third deployment.
13E is (was?) a cannon fire directions specialist. Basically in my case, heavy mechanized artillery. I would calculate the firing data for the howitzers, and 13B's would perform firing duties. We shot M109A2's, 155mm, self-propelled. I've spent a lot of time in Bosnia, a little in Kosovo, some years in Germany and a whole lot of moving around stateside. Now, I do a much different job in the Army, and I'm a career soldier; 17 years and counting as mentioned earlier. Who knew the time would go buy just like *that*... not me.
You'll be in my thoughts in sand-land, you'll be back home before you know it... again!
Thank you for YOUR service.
Yea now it is 13d's. They do what you did. I've been on the 109's before. I love them. I am on the m119 now and switching to the m777 next month. This will be my first deployment where I actually get to do my job and shoot, at least that is what they are telling us... We will see.
I do appreciate every time someone says it, it makes me feel good, but no need to thank me. I am very grateful for the job I have. It has taught me a lot and made me grow up a lot. Every day I wake up I know I have a job and although its dangerous, I don't have to worry about supporting my family. So I say THANK YOU to everyone thats supports the military!
