Hi all,
I'm new to shaving by any means. I tried it back when I was in high-school (15 yrs ago) and hated the burn so much, I've just trimmed my beard with electric clippers since then. I've been lurking for the last 2 weeks, and trying shaving with some Bic single blade disposables and Fusions while I ordered myself some gear from Canada/USA/UK. It's all arrived now, and I had my first shave tonight. I followed Lynn's advice and just did my sideburns/cheeks on both sides. No cuts, and actually quite a close shave (for me). More comfortable than the disposables with which I've bloodied myself quite badly in the last few days.
My shave today:
Dovo best quality
Invisible edge 2 sided sprung paddle strop
Vulfix super badger brush
Taylors Jermyn st cream
Proraso sensitive pre-shave
Thayers original
Nivea sensitive balm
I've also got a little 100mmx50mm belgian blue stone and I'm seeking out some cheap unhoned razors so that I can practice before I try honing my new dovo.
I love needlessly expensive hobbies, so this suits me well. It's also quite novel to have a smooth face.

Thanks all... Yeah not jumping into honing right away, though figure it'll take a long time to get good at, so why not start now. North of the border?
