Welcome Bobby, one more fellow Albertan has taken up the straight!
Thanks for the advice. I took the razor to the shop where they hone blades, they made sure I was good to go and I had my first partial shave yesterday. Only did the sideburns to jaw on each side. I'm definately shakey on the left side, and have a ton to learn but it was also the most fun I've had shaving in a long time. Can't wait for my next shave.
Everybody is shakey, you have razor against your skin. I've only just begun using straights too. I've been doing menial tasks with my left hand and it seems to help a lot. Brush your teeth, comb your hair, wash dishes, dry the dishes, flip the pages in a book with your non-dominant hand and you'll be amazed at how quickly dexterity will develop. Good luck!
I took it to Knifewear in Inglewood. Another member, Ignatius, recommended them for honing to another newb on an older post

He specifically recommended Rob from knifewear.
