Old New Guy
Hi,
I am new to straight razor shaving. I am 50 and I work as a professional in the city. That means I have to look nice and wear suits to work. In the past I shaved with a Fusion and canned cream. Switched to a brush and I am going to try the Dovo Razor with replacement blades.
I hope to learn how to take care of a real straight razor and buy a good one. Why? I guess watching too many videos on the computer. You all make this look so easy. No worries, I am in for the long haul with lots of patience, and I don't care if the shave is not close at first.
Mostly I want to poke around and read and learn. My father taught me shaving with a Norelco double headed shaver. I have a heavy beard that can stop an electric razor so mostly used those EXPENSIVE cartridge razors.
Thanks for allowing me to be here. So far I have learned all about brushes, shaving cream, etc. There is so much and I thought shaving was simple? I just want to understand it all.

Welcome to SRP Bill! :)
There's plenty to read here, and always plenty to learn for all of us. I look forward to running into you around the forums.
James.

Welcome! Keep on reading and learning. It is easy to start too quickly, and much better if you take your time and take the whole process on gradually.

G'day Bill and Welcome. Hope you enjoy your experience in this, your new world and brotherhood. :)

Greetings, Bill, and welcome to SRP!

G'Day Bill and welcome to the fold and FWIW I was older than you when I started my journey.

Welcome, and enjoy the ride! Once you really, and you will, get into this you are going to have a bathroom full of aftershaves, creams, and soaps. So now you will not only look professional, but will smell professional too! :rofl2:

Thanks for the wonderful welcome! Nice to see an active forum.
Yes, I will start slow. I am sure in time I will have several razors plus accessories. No rush. My plan at this point is to only straight shave on weekends when I don't feel rushed. Switching off canned cream is wonderful.
All good things in time. Patience and learning and more patience.

Welcome to SRP Bill. Please don't refer to '50' as old ..... if you are old I am ancient. :gaah: :rofl2:
