Hello from New Orleans, LA

Been hanging around in the wings about a year now, figured it was time to say hello. Suggest SRP to straight shavers I meet regularly. Thought I would get more involved, and see if there are a couple areas I might contribute to. Been straight shaving quite some time. Actually live and work right outside of New Orleans. I'm an import, orginally from Virginia. My wife of 30 years is a life long resident, and still calls me a yankee. I'm kind of a take your shoes off person, so ya'll come on by and chat a spell.

Thanks Tom. New Orleans doesn't have everything, but food we got, lots of it and all good.

Thanks Zib. Get close to Jacksonville couple of times a year. Have a son, daughter in law and two grandkids in Ocala. Ya'll make out ok for this last little storm?

Yeah, I am close enough to get some on occasion. Spicy stuff! Hard! I suppose I never had the "real" stuff, but I lean toward the "Texas" kindof hot! Green peppers instead of red! ;) So whatya shaving with?

Tonight, a German made Muschel, no other id. 6/8 full hollow. But prefer small razors, negotiate my beard better. Mab, slightly shortened and rounded Red Imp, 4/8 1970's Lang with French Point. Like Wostenholm wedge and semi wedge shaves, but most are a little large for my face, and haven't found one I was willing to shorten. How about you?

Thanks, will have to check my budget. Gave up that ear cuttin stuff, got one I could keep track of both ends at the same time.

That earcutter! Always the salesman! Man, I have a large collection and keep an average of 18 in rotation. I really like going from a 5/8 English wedge to a 9/8 singing Solingen blade. The spice of it!

Sounds like a lot to keep track of. Have a hard time with just a few trying to remember which one likes to be stropped this way and which ones that way. We were talking razors?

Close neighbors indeed. 5626 Jefferson hwy, across from Smilies. We keep the coffee on, talk powertools, razors, and fishin. Have beer at Italian pie at west end of bldg. and I usually have a little Jack Daniels around. Come pass a good time,

Now that's too much, IMHO. 3 times a year with each razor. Would have to be 3 times in a row, and I'd still forget all about that razor before I got to it. Now, I know a fella with over 3,000, but doesn't shave with them. Tried to talk him into trying. With that many razors has got to have some good shavers. Have seen two or three big W&B's, couple of Wostenholms, and a big old, Wilton. Have a great day,

Hi Sig84.

There are several of us here. Little new to SRP myself. Honing at Big Easy Tools, 5626 Jefferson Hwy, Harahan, also does other razor related work, and sells a few. Lots of honers on SRP as well. 'Pacho' on SRP lives off Clearview and Airline. I live in Waggman, work in Harahan. Lots of good stuff here, can't find time to check it all out. Hear Lakeview is coming back pretty well, haven't been out that way in a while. Know of at least 4 or 5 other shavers in N.O. area.

Haven't been on the site for awhile and am glad to see there are more str8 shavers around here. We'll have to see if we can get together after the holidays and have a talk.

Hi all!

I know this is a couple month old thread but I wanted to add my hello from the big easy as well!!! Also was curious if this get together happened or not?? If not I wouldn't mind getting together to chat and talk razors! I'm a bit further out... Belle Chasse, but I like driving so... anyone still interested??

Pacho lives in Kenner. At least two in Slidell, 2 -3 more in kenner/metaire/harahan. Know one in B.R. I have emails for several. There's been a little talk, but so far nothing formal to set up a meet. Maybe one of us should make contact with all and get emails and see if we can't work something out.

Somebody, anybody....just set a date, time and place. Announce it here and in the Get Togethers forum. Then send a PM/email to each SRP member on the list with the info. Don't bother looking for a common date good for everyone. It does not happen. It will start off small but will grow each time you organize it.

Just my 2¢ :)

I will do what randal said. I have a restaurant with plenty ofspace, flat Stainless tables for honing and big sinks. I live in slidell and we are closed sundays so it would have to be then. I am tied up for a month but if anyone wants to meet in the meantime give me a shout and we.will set up a time
