Introducing myself.

Hello,
I am msgt (Michael) and apprecitive of this great shaving site. Straight razor shaving has been in the back of my mind for a long time. I can remember my uncles that were Barbers and doing stropping and shaves in the shops they owned in Chicago. The nice odors that always permeated the air and the MEN conversation that took place when my Father would take my brothers and I to the shop have been special memories.
I retired from the military after 40 yrs of service in 2010. Now, I make the time to enjoy, as Lynn Abrams said in the Straight Razor DVD, " The closest shave you ever had." I am still in my learning cycle for sure as evidenced by the "slash" marks left on my face. It reminds me of when my Father taught me how to use a double edge saftey razor back in 1964 in the 7th grade when the good nuns at the Catholic school told me to ask my Dad to teach me how to shave!! BUT, I see and learn something for the better everyday. I started my straight razor enjoyment about 1 month ago. I am progressing slowly and that's fine with me as the learning will never stop.....I hope.

Michael, first - warmest welcome. I hope you're enjoying the shaves so far. I'm not eloquent at saying it, but thank you for your service.

I screwed up my edges alot when I started. Should you find this happens, pm me. 'Glad to help there for just cost of getting it back to you.

Keep posting questions. The guys will be quick to help. The help is good, the attitudes too. 'hope you have fun w/ the learning. It won't be long before the best shaves of you life are pretty regular.
