    Default Hello everyone.

    Hi,
I'm new to the straight razor game. I have been stalking the sight for a while and have picked up some good info. I live near Cleveland, Ohio.

I just decided to buy my first straight razor and get started, though I have had an interest in them for years. I have learned that you get what you pay for, and I like to learn on what I'm going to use. Sooo; that being said I just ordered a Baxter Blue Steel "NOT A REPLICA" Straight Razor. I have a badger brush which I picked up at the Art of Shaving store near me. I will be piecing the rest of my "kit" together over the next week or so.

I will also be reading and absorbing as much as I can leading up to my first shave. I appreciate all the help and advice that I'm sure you will offer me in the future. With that, I am pleased to meet you, and I am looking forward to learning a new skill.

    Welcome to SRP

You had me concerned with the name of the razor so I went to Google and looked it up.
Whew! You got yourself a good one. The Hart razors are very good. Make sure you find out if they were honed with 1 layer of tape or 2.

    Default Hello everyone.

Haha thanks. I had heard good things about hart razors. And I'm a sucker for black on black stuff. So when I saw that razor I was instantly sold. How would I go about finding out about the tape? Their website says 1 piece of tape. I could always try calling them to get the very specific specifics. Thanks for the comments

If their website says one piece of tape then thats what you want to use when honing that razor.
Please note that you do not use the tape when stropping on a plain leather hanging strop just before each shave for 30-50 roundtrip laps.
