Thanked: 0Greetings from Michigan!
Hello everyone
I've been reading through this forum for about 8 months and just joined. I finally took the leap after almost a year of looking reading and learning about the glory of the Straight shave. My first razor arrived yesterday and I completed my first shave today.
Yes I still have a face. though I have a touch of razor burn on the right side of my throat. I think I did pretty well for a first time. only a couple weepers and 1 good nick.
I'm completely hooked though can't way for the next round.
I would love any tips or suggestion on shaving with a Goatee and also methods to clean up my throat better. its always been the hardest place because I have a large larynx.
I'm looking forward to learning and growing. i believe this was a good choice for me.

Thanked: 2209Welcome to SRP
The best advice I can give you is to meet up with other SRP members in your area. It is the fastest way to shorten your learning curve.
Here is a link to the Get Togethers forum. Check it for past & planned Meets in your area then contact some of the members.

and here is a link to the SRP members with "Michigan " in their profile......

Thanked: 0Thank you for the responces. I just moved back to Jackson, MI.
Ended up making 4 fresh passes with 1/4-3/4in strokes WTG.. Still had a lot of stubble after second and third pass...
Yes I'm soaping between passes. I was erroring on a short angle. Ended up with a blade flat against my skin a couple times 😄.
With my lack of experience I ha started with longer hair on my face then I should have. My first pass was so light the blade didn't really touch my skin.Last edited by ScottJ; 12-22-2012 at 12:26 PM. Reason: Miss spelling

Welcome!!!!
I am not far (about an hour). PM me if you want to stop by some time. I don't do much honing but I love talking about shaving!!!! McBrautigan (spelling?) lives in Jackson and Maggard razors (Brad Maggard - aka Undream) just opened a shop in Adrian. There might be a meet-up in Adrian in the future.

Welcome to the forum!
I am in Jackson also as Coach said. I would be happy to help out in anyway that I can. Keep reading and learning and if you want some face to face time with some one I am sure we could figure something out.

Lucky guess (from memory). If I was worth anything I would have searched your profile and copied it in.... But I am lazy.
Original Gravity????
One of the parents at our pre-school own it. We are basically a mile or so down the street from that place. Next time you are out, give me a heads up and head on over.
