    Default Hello from SC

Hello I'm jake, I'm from Greenville SC. I've been researching for the past two weeks and finally decided to introduce myself. This community is an incredible source of knowledge and I haven't been able to stop reading yet. I'm going to start getting into straight razors and wanted to know what everyone's recommendation on a starter razor is. I have looked at hundreds and have tons I want but one of the companies I carry in my store sells dovo so I get them at cost and I hav been looking at a diamant or a couple others. I have also gotten into restoring as well. I got an old razor at an antique store to practice on. I have a long way to go before I can finish it but its entertaining. Any input on the restoration or my first purchase is appreciated. The restoration has only been resurfaced not polished yetName: photo.jpg

Welcome to SRP Jake! You really cant go wrong with a new Dovo, but it is more important that it is shave ready then anything.Lots of great information to read up on! Enjoy!

Yeah I intended on sending it out to get it honed before hand. So I can know what it should feel like

Thats a wise decision, with some good stropping a shave ready razor can be maintained for quite a while.
