    Hello All,
I got a haircut in December of last year, where the barber used a straight edge to clean up my neck; boy, did that sound and feel great!!
i grew up in new jersey and used to go to Phillip's barber shop (barber pole, photos of opera singers all over, each signed with a "to Phillip...", a kid shining shoes, you get it). even though i hated getting haircuts, i loved getting the hot towel on my face and neck, which led to Phillip applying hot shaving cream to my neck from the stainless steel dispenser, and the great sound and feel of the shave!
Anyway, that did it. No more disposable razors for me, bright on the straight edge(s).
my kids bought me a dovo micarta, strop, brush and striptick pencil and off I went.
for a month, or so I provided quite a bit of humor at home and the office due to the variety and severity of the cuts to my face, but have finally gotten to the point where I can shave everyday with the razors and not cut myself up.
Lastly, and like all of you, I have been infected with RAD (6 and counting).

I look forward to being a part of this community of like minded obsessive compulsive shavers, and really appreciate the voluminous amount of information available to me.
    best regards, Paul

ps did I forget to mention that I have already started messing around with a norton 4k/8k stone, have a dmt lapping stone on the way, and trying to find a way to buy a begian coticule without my wife of 28 years killing me......
    Lynn and pfries like this.

Welcome Paul, to Straight Razor Place,
where lots of people can relate to your story. Sounds like you are already well on
your way, so I'll just say have fun, and don't hesitate to ask questions as they come along.

    Welcom to SRP,

Time may cure the cuts but the RAD is here to stay.

More straights put it in remission but only for a short while.

That's what I was afraid of!
On the other hand, I could have worse habits for sure.
