Hello From Maine
I am very new to straight razors. Made the switch to DE shaving about 9 months ago. I have been hanging out at TSD and was participating in a nationwide tour of a box full of shaving gear. One of the items in the box was a straight. I didn't take it, but it did generate an interest in straights. Off I went to eBay and picked up a Dubl Duck. After consulting with gssixgun I got some hones, wet dry sandpaper and Maas polish, and a 3" strop from Star Shaving. I also found a Boker King Kutter that was in better shape, then a new Dovo Best Quality, and finally a Columbia Sight Half Seen from Whipped Dog. I think I might have a disorder. Oh and I am on the list for the SRP Logo Razor.
Nice to meet you all

First of all, WELCOME to the forum Jim. You are in the right place to learn more about our fine "sport", meet some great folks in a gentlemanly environment, and of course share your journey.
Since you have consulted with Glen, aka gssixgun, he will get you started off in a proper manner I have no doubt. I do request that you hold off on learning to hone for a little while & just learn to shave with a straight honed by a honing veteran. Give it about 30 shaves & then we will get you going on honing.
This sport does have all sorts of disorders like SAD, RAD, BAD, and so on...enjoy the ride my friend & if I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me via PM.
