Hello from Wales, UK
Just bought my first straight razor at the ripe old age of 56. Learned to shave with a brush, shaving stick and DE razor some 40 years ago, but have used cartridge and foam from a can for the past 30+. Now looking forward to enjoying my shaving routine instead of merely "shaving".
Picked up some good pointers on this forum, so thanks to all that contribute here.

Peter, 'hearty welcome. Our timelines w/ shaving are very close. You've landed in exactly the right spot to transform your shaves from an annoying chore into a daily pleasure. There are quite a few of us that started late w/ a str8, and have not looked back. I'd rather not shave than use another method. I have a couple DE's but although I 'learned' on one, I've not invested the time to learn to enjoy them. Truthfully, I don't want to. I love the str8 shave.
If you have an experienced member or str8 shaver reasonably close to your area, some time w/ them in person would likely prove to be time well spent. It really accelerates the learning time.
'Hope to hear more from you. Enjoy the learning and the shaves.

Just took delivery of a new Dovo Carpe Diem ( thanks to Steve at The Invisible Edge), psyching myself up to give it a go later this evening.
