Hello From Salt Lick KY
Hi all. I know everyone is thinking this is some hillbilly from kentuckee. You may be right in that assumption . I have fallen into this big world of shaving and I am hooked ! I just bought my first straight razor. I have and will continue to use a safety razor as well. The straight I bought I know needs to be honed. I was hoping someone would point me in the direction of a good established place to have this done. I was also hoping to get opinions on the razor itself, whether it's worth pursuing further to get it shave ready, and if anyone knows it's history. Thanks in advance . Attachment 125832

Thanks for the welcome. Yea I'm pretty lost on where to begin, but I want to learn. I guess I should have posted what the maker stamp says. Its a Fred Dolle, Chicago Illinois ,made in Germany, and on the flip side it says New Era.

Welcome to SRP Kid. Your razor was probably made sometime after World War I by an anonymous German manufacturer and stamped with the name of the firm that would retail it here in the States. This being Fred Dolle who ran a barber supply company located at 669 West Madison Street, Chicago, Illinois. This company was in business from 1901 to 1928. These unknown razors are generally of a good quality and will give good service if honed properly and given good maintenance.
