Hello from the Netherlands
Good day everybody,
The first time i noticed about straight razors was back in 1979 when i was placed by the army somewhere in the middle east.
Being away for many days without shaving at all, there was this little barber in a small village that i could visit once a month or so to be shaved with an quite antique straight razor. He took about 20 minutes to get the job done, including treatment with hot damp towels, diverse sorts of creams and other mysterious stuff. I think he actually home-made the soap brush from different components of goats that ware walking around the place. At least it looked that way.
Nowadays because i work at home most of the time i am quite used to not shave on a daily base. It just is easy and safes a lot of time. But because my beard hair is starting to look rather gray here and there, my other best half is starting to push me a little to do a daily shave in stead of every two weeks or so. I use a Mach 3 sort of thing to scrape everything off, and when the hair is to long i use a sort of animal trim device (thats what it looks like) to shorten first.
Because i have good memories to the shaves with the straight razor so many years back i am planning to dive into that subject and see if it is something for me too. This equipment looks great, and i really like the -back in time- atmosphere that hangs around it.
We will see,
Have a nice day.
J.
