I completely agree. There is nothing like kicking the tires before buying. Hopefully the Montréal market will grow significantly and a dedicated store might pop up someday. In the mean time, like Cangooner said, there's Vasco downtown, but I find their selection to be limited compared to online shops. There's also a Japanese knife shop, L'Émouleur, in the Mile-End on Laurier, I think they sell kamisori razors and offer a straight razor sharpening service (I can't really comment further, I never tried them).
