Thanked: 0Hi all!
Hi everyone,
New to the forum and wannabe straight razor user. I joined the Air Force and will be leaving in July for basic and so have decided to get used to shaving as a clean shave is required. Until now I have sported a bush red beard (hence the name). Before I found this forum I ordered a vintage razor from eBay and planned on restoring it as I have with many knives. Didn't find out that was a no no till after. However if anyone could help identify it and speak to it's quality that would be much appreciated. Marked "Deullen Broxelle." Again all help is appreciated and glad to be on the forum.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about your razor other than it is a *great* looking one! It has a great shape IMHO, and looks to be in very good condition. Apart from cleaning it up, I personally wouldn't do much at all to it. But then I'm not real big on the mirror finish thing... others will disagree.
Do yourself a BIG favour and send it out to a pro to be honed before use. You can find reputable members who offer honing services in the classified here:

And, of course, welcome to SRP!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

While I can't tell you anything about the razor itself it does seem to be a nice blade. I do like the shoulderless design. I will say though that while yes it will be required to be clean shaven you will not be permitted to bring a straight to basic. They are going to give you a Gillette Fusion and canned shave gel and thats what you will have to shave with. However, once your done with that you should be able to have your family mail you your razor. Just make sure you oil your razor before you get shipped off as to prevent rust while your gone. My last piece of advice friend....you should have joined the Navy. Haha just joking I really don't want to start a branch rivalry war.
