    Hi Derek,

Welcome to SRP!! Probably the best help right now would be to read through the wiki, and Glen's (gssixgun) "Beginners Tips" both linked below in my sig line. Glen is in Sandpoint ID, so if you're close to there, then you're close to some major help.

If you don't find it in the wiki or elsewhere on the site, then ask away and you'll get plenty of help!!

Enjoy the forum, and again, Welcome!!

    Regards,

    Howard

Howard is right of course, not sure where yer at, but I would be more than happy top sit down over coffee or beers and talk about steel and rocks

We normally have 2 Pacific NW meet ups each year too, Spring time in Yakima and Fall time in Spokane..

let me know if I can help

Default Dim, Welcome. You're gonna be glad you're making the switch

At this stage, the good Sir's counsel is most sound. Glen's offer is probably hard to appreciate. He's a master at restoration and honing. If you possibly can, see if you can get together. It would be hard to recommend that strongly enough. It would slash your learning curve and get you to the joy alot faster. I hope to meet you at the Fall meet-up in September in Spokane. You can learn more in a day there, than 6 mo of reading, vids or practice.

As my friends GSSIXGUN (Glen) and pinklather have said, please try to either get with Glen either at home or at the meet!

You will learn so much more than you can by reading or watching videos for months on end!!!!

I preach what I practice! I learned so much at the Meet it really changed the way I hone and my general outlook on practicing the Art of shaving with and maintaining a straight razor!!

There’s a Bonus at the Meet as there is a common bond a comradeship that you will enjoy!

Please try to get together with Glen or make it to the Meet, you will not regret it!!!

Welcome to SRP, Derek, and just go to the Forum of interest....brushes, cologne, razors, soaps, etc. Also, recent postings is very interesting. Some of our members have posted instructional videos which are outstanding. You may want to look at their video's

Thank you all for the information. I am currently living in Moscow ID, but find my self in the Spokane area frequently. I think I will take you up on your offer Glen. I will PM you soon and see what works best for you. I am willing to travel great distances to learn from someone as highly recommended as you.
