As an artist I like the second bowl better. Not only for size, but for color choices and use. Would like to see bumps and more ridges on the interior. Brush shapes are very nice but my preference is for longer handles, less messy.
I think you are well on your way to establishing yourself, I like all the colors you chose. If I were to pick one I really like would be the second also, really like the blue and the reddish white. I agree with Razorfeld maybe some more ridges in the bowl.

I'm with razorfeld on the bumps and ridges on the interior. Now this is only a personal preference bit I really do like the blues you are using. Yet if I were to buy one I would request a darker blue. Overall though some of the best scuttles I have seen, trust me, because I have been looking for one!

I like the earthtones personally for my man cave. I presume those spoke shaped grooves at the bottom would act like ridges in other scuttles to help aerate the lather?

You are correct mike. as for the earthy colors that is a blessing and a curse of high fire ceramics.
I like the third bowls shape. I also agree that more aggressive ridges inside would be preferable. Bumps rather than ridges, maybe?
I also like the brush in the last photo but would prefer if it was able to tail stand.

I like the shape of the first one, the handle of the second one and the spout of the last picture, I like the way that it looks a bit less angular. From a colour point of view I prefer the darker ones.
That's not to say that any one of them is not nice though.
I think those are excellent and my preference would be for the larger, 4x3.25, size. I agree that experimenting with different patterns of bumps and ridges could be helpful in lathering. Colour choice is a personal thing and I have always been partial to a cobalt blue. I really like the shape of the white 3 inch brush handle also, looks like it would very comfortable to use. Great start, hope you have success.

I like the design of the first and third, how the water spout and handle are not located directly across from each other. Gives it a unique look. The colors on all three look great, I'm a big fan of the earth tones for bowls and such. Keep up the good work. And you know which ever one you to send to will be just fine :w lol
Personally, they are all awesome looking!! For me bigger is better. I like the large one the best but not to discount the others.

Here's one that I had made by Robert Becker, I don't think he is making any more...but could be wrong. I wanted a raised cross at the bottom and texture on the sides. The swirling texture on the sides does no good, should be ribs running from the lip down to the center of the bottom. Love mine

The bowl is approximately 2.75" deep and 5" across.
Very nice! I thought at first you were using existing scuttle's / bowls as models!!! Then realized these were one's you did...great job!!!
Here is another piece that could also be a shaving item although a bit large
Phrank yeah they are my designs, nothing proven yet. There is also some characteristics I will like to inquire from the ones that have used a scuttle. Here is what I have heard: some scuttles do not retain heat. My solution make the spout hole a bit tighter/smaller, now this has brought up another nuance. That nuance is that the scuttle has to be filled while the spout tilts upwards. I will take a video that I will try to upload and get your opinions.
Another alternative to making the fill hole smaller is to use a plug to stop it up.

The brush shapes (and mostly white color) are somewhat boring to me.
I like the scuttle designs with the peg handles. I would make the spout mouth larger but the hole that feeds into the reservoir smaller. Also, a wide, somewhat shallow bowl allows using brushes with a shorter handle/loft easier and cleaner. Adding steep (vertical) walls will help keep the lather inside.

@ twisted oak a wider shallower bowl will somewhat negate the heat retention feature.
For heat retention maybe look at a larger water reservoir volume.

I thought of that before, but wide shallow and large reservoir equals a very large and clunky piece of clay. I do believe that 4" diameter is ideal.
I was just looking at the scuttle I have and the dimensions of the bowl for lathering in is 4 inches in diameter and about 1.5 inches deep. Does me very well for lathering. The outside are roughly 5.5 inches in diameter and 3.25 inches tall. I was assuming we were talking a double walled scuttle with the heating reservoir between the inner and outer walls.

See even my first one has a 4"diameter and a 2.5"dept for the lathering bowl and the external diameter is about ~5.5". The second and third are about the same diameter but with a dept from 3-3.5". Making then larger means 6" or larger in the exterior and about 5"tall.
Note changing subjects a bit , let's hear if for this brush scuttle.
It is a tight fit, but again I have been reading complains about heat loss, do I made the walls tight.
I like the one with the spout 90 degrees from the handle. I guess that would actually make them left or right handed though. I am holding out for a Raku finish!
No raku because: raku pieces are porus, and fragile.
