Wow! Great find Richard.
Saw an old weight lifting belt the other day, but it was as stiff as cardboard and I didn’t know if I could make it more flexible or if it was worth trying.
You also see woven belts, but they aren’t completely flat and only about an inch and a half wide. They have a ridge on either side and are likely made of polyester and not of canvas or cotton.
Nice find Geezer.
Just another example that being lucky means being ready to act when the opportunity arises.
Don't forget to look for trays, lots of great scale material at the thrift stores.
[QUOTE]/QUOTE]I was going to bring up these. They’re usually in sports goods
Check the woman’s section(yes you feel wierd and get strange looks). Women use belts for fashion not purpose. They come in all sizes and materials over there and there are tons of’em. Also there is a support belt in the medical section that works very well. It’s almost exactly what you’d find as a secondary component.
Another foray in Goodwill the other day. Once again the Goodwill gleaners overlooked the first item and it hit the shelves. A nice Burt Bees scuttle for $1.99. The second item, a set of two cast iron small griddles measuring 4-1/2" across were $1.99 each. They are great for that single fried egg or one (on a diet) pancake you then smother with butter and Maple syrup. Considering their size they would be excellent for making little blinis you can fill with sour cream and caviar - the Russian delight.Attachment 286208Attachment 286209
For a second Richard I thought you were going to say you used those griddles as some new fangled latherer for shaving.
You never know what may be hiding in the corners of some of these places, one tends to never regret checking them out! :D
Found these items today at the local thrift store! They have a section that they put antiques and other collectibles in and sell them in a kind of silent auction (put your bid in a book and if there is no higher bid in a week then it's yours). These weren't in that section (surprisingly) but rather in the toiletry/bathroom section. All for $6.50! The razor is a 5/8+ no namer but it doesn't look like i'll have to do much to it, the brush is a Stag brand (should be able to polish the scratches out) and the razor a Gillette.
