I'm not normally one for daytime television, I pulled an all nighter getter home a few minutes ago. I turned on the television and saw a infomerical for the ROTOSHAVE wet shaver.
This contraption is a 9 bladed cartriage that spins at 270 rpm with guard wires to keep the skin on your face.
They went to a barber shop in CA that gives straight shaves. The baber used a straight on one side and the rotoshave on the other for comparison. They claimed there was no difference.
Take it for what its worth but I'm going to save my one time payment of 39.99 US plus s+h for other purchases.

It reminds me of that other new thing that came out recently, the rolling razor or something. It looks like a ring that you put on your finger and has two cartridges on it.

Its really telling to me that theres all this new technology out there, with the new gizmo you mention, the rolling razor, 3, 4 and 5 bladed razors, with aloe vera strips, that vibrate and Lord knows what else and people are coming back to straight razors in droves.

Straight razors have been mentioned in Playboy recently, Glen let us know about that. And this site has loads of new members, on an almost daily basis I'm seeing introductions from newbies, and we have over 17,000 members here now!

Clearly all this new, flashy, cheaply made and, ultimately, very expensive stuff is not impressing people. The manufacturers are trying to get people to buy this stuff and then they just hammer them on the blades. Thats where Gillette make their money and it'll be the same with this thing.

Plus, wheres the romance? Wheres the flair for design? Where are the classic lines? The gold wash and hand crafted scales? Not there, because this is another piece of plastic junk.

I actually ENJOY shaving now! I dont want it to be over in 90 seconds, I relish every moment of it and I get up earlier than necessary to make sure I have time to fit a proper shave in. I love the skill of it, the workmanship that went into the razors, the feel of a warm brush on my skin, the scents of the creams and soaps and the sing of the razor on the strop. Who'd want to give that up?

Why do we want to rush through shaving? To get to the next thing? Well, for me (and I suspect most of us) the next thing is work. Who wants to rush there? The time I spend shaving is one of the rare bits of "me" time that I get. Its just me, a mirror and the skill of my hand to get a good lather, strop up and shave.

The feel of your skin after a good straight shave is so much better than any other BECAUSE of the time and effort we put in to it, not in spite of it.

But every time I see another contraption like this I get all riled up..! Hehe! :p

Then again, if people are out spending $17,000 on a couple of cartridges for this thing, they're not going to be on the 'Bay buying up all the razors! :D

Hey fellas,

The Rotorazor is no more than a super rip-off of all the men out there desperate for a smooth, comfortable shave. I googled this wet-shaving abomination and came up with--just as I expected--Rotoshave which sits proudly at the "As Seen on TV" website where a veritable corncucopia of over-priced, flimsy and easily breakable junk is marketed. Add of pinch of the misguided belief many people have driven into their head by Madison Avenue about technology that anything new MUST be better and voila, you have Rotoshave.

BTW...wrench3047 understated the price...It's three easy (LOL) payments of $33.33 for a total cost of $99.99. Heck...That's a lot more than the cost of a quality DE safety razor and more than the cost of a brand new Dovo "Best Quality" str8 razor.

BTW...The website doesn't even tell you what the replacement "roller'" or spinning multi-blade attachment costs. It must be a doozie.

I saw that ****poor of contraption some time ago. This is why I hate infomercials. I've come to call them shitformercials.

With regards to barbershop, if I was local I would never go to that barbershop. Matter of fact, I'd tell everyone I knew he was a hack. The purpose of going to barbershop besides haircut is to get a straight shave not a rotoshave. What are you going to do to clean the neck areas? Rotoshave? Retards.

I wonder if it comes with a can of fail?

That is actually studied in marketing... The Gillette Model refers to a business practice in which you sell a relatively cheap product, but expensive replacement parts. Gillette invented the practice, and several businesses use it now.
