I just received my Dirty Bird Scuttle last night. Right off the bat, I was impressed with the overall size of it. Here it is next to my GTP G5. (Ooops, Sorry, Pics are reveresed) The DB is really a thing of beauty, I was impressed with the GTP when I got it, but now I'm not sure. I have a new favorite....
It soaked up two full cups of water like a sponge, I'd say the capacity is right around there. I really look forward to using it. I like the G5, or should I say, I learned to like it out of shear conveinence. It works, it's just too small for me..I think it'd be great for a dorm room or something like that. Someplace where space is limited. California Cajun did a great job of reviewing all the scuttles for us, including heat loss. I won't do a formal review...
I have to hand it to Julie at Dirty Bird. This is hot out of the kiln, She also made me a custom pot to fit in my little crock pot. (First pic) I use it as a doulble boiler from time to time for hot lather...SRD used to sell them, but no more, so I had one custom made complete with texture inside, her string design to aid in lather building. It's a perfect fit, She made it from my drawings and measurements. She nailed it...
P.S. I put the little rubber feet on the bottom. Not only does make it non slip. I feel it aids in heat loss. Rather than the Scuttle sitting on the cold counter disapateing heat, You have a buffer, The feet keep it off the counter, and help it to hold heat. At least in theory....Seemed like a good idea...
(No making fun of my Soap AD) I clearly have a problem, and that's only what you see, You haven't seen the Creams...
and yes, that's an Escher....
