Just finished the matting and hanging the old Currier and Ives advertisement. Kind of finishes off the corner. It's a winter scene which is just ending up here in Maine. The wife will probably want something different there for the summer. I'll have to be on the look out for something appropriate. The mug in the picture is also in the cabinet.

Wowzers...I love it! Congratulations.
Here it is (again.) The "Shavetorium."
The Kochs barber chair came from Koske Barber Supply in Chicago during 1988. I had a client that I did an illustration for that included a barber chair. I told them I needed a real chair and they bought it for me.
The Cambell's Latherking has been in regular service now since November of 1970. All that's ever been done to it is a change of brushes from time to time and a good cleaning. The mixture is 1 gallon distilled water, a cap full of Gabel's latherizer cream, and a half tube of Musgo Real.
Behind the chair beneath the back bar is a towel warmer.
The barber bottles on the shelf are 8 ounce restaurant oil and vinager cruets. I had the knurled screw tops removed and inserted vintage Marvy stoppers. The labels are hand mede by yours truly.
The vintage lotion bottles on the upper shelf have been collected for the last 45 years.
The in-laws come here regularly for shaves and haircuts. It's my way of getting even.
I'm looking at all the pictures posted by the gang here. Every one of the dens are as orderly and clean as an operating room. So why to the ladies always accuse us of being messy? I will not display pictures of the women's room at my house.
looks great.
Here is my humble little shave den! lol I added a new little vintage barber cabinet! what yall think?

Incredibly jealous....awesome collection and setup Costabro!
4th grade was my favorite year of school, I had the best teacher. Our classroom walls were covered with Norman Rockwell and Currier and Ives. For that reason alone, I have to give my vote to Karlej. Love the style of it!!

I like your minimaliste style :)
Lookin good! that's still way better than mine! My den is also mostly my dresser than i keep shaving gear in the top drawer.
This isn't so much my shave den, it's oddly enough currently being displayed in my kitchen.
I rotate my 'display' razor weekly just to keep everything I have in my shaving rotation.
My modest collection of products are in the bathroom which are:
Proraso shave cream
Proraso Shave Soap
Proraso pre/post shave
Proraso Aftershave
Mitchells wool fat
Tabac Shave Stick
and a few others that I can't remember....
Oh, and I couldn't forget a picture of my favourite helper. She shave with me every Sunday.

Heh quoting myself....
Update on mine as I have been trying to work out what to do with it. I am gonna put trays into at least one drawer. Stackable trays to hols razors. The drawers don't open fully so I intend on keeping the trays to the opening depth. That way I can use the back to store cleaning and honing kit the other drawers will need some sorting too. The other single cupboard will also be getting a manly use. I like to think liqour cabinet.....

tiny spot for my gear
Thought I'd post up some pictures of my Shave Den. At first I was pissed my wife kicked me out of our bathroom......Now she is jealous of the work I did to my den :).
Mounted shave mirror, 2 sided (mag side and standard), 1947 advertisement, hung up my strop, pallet wood up on the wall and put in a hidden cabinet/cubby for my brush, razor and soaps (razor is out to Lynn right now for honing).
Anyway. I am happy with the outcome.

That is really nice work man! Good way to make your wife jealous!
This is really nice looking. Good work.
Very nice work!
Very nice shave space. Enjoy!
I think I know why ADs haven't hit me hard yet. I have been focusing on learning with what I have and outfitting a special place for me. Here we go.

Unfortunately I either need to replace the basin or fix it. It got a crack from shipping. My friend may have one lined up for me but it just wont be so wonderful looking.

Thank you for the photos of the great corner of history. One place I worked, the lead illustrator / designer had a really well upholstered and padded barber chair as his work chair. Worked for him in his "U" shaped space with drawing board tops that slid in and out at will with the supplies in moving cabinets above. I always wanted to duplicate the set-up!
Thank you again!
~Richard.
Wow! Some really impressive dens in the thread.
Here is my little/starter den (software is all in a med cabinet). I've been wet shaving for about 6 months, about to make the jump to straights (have my first 2 on order). This picture is already outdated though I took it only a few weeks ago.
Lot of great pics are helping shape my ideas for the inevitable expansion of my den.

So we did a refurb out at my little cabin. And although we still haven't got it all sqeezed into the cabin, we've utilised a little of the spare space that's convenient...I give you my new shave den!

This just screams "ManCave". Good job! I like the pallet boards. They make this shave den just seem real.

I love the Aussie idea of "indoor plumbing"! :roflmao
Yeah but that's only a "lite finish", so you don't won't to be to dirty for the shower. My wash basin and shave kit has been posted elsewhere on the forum in a shave of the day I think. Haven't got time to lookfor it just now. Just a big tin basin sat on a wooden stool for a bench. The stool mid bottom of the second picture in fact.
Mick
Well Mick,
from what I can see you are a kind of man that don't need luxuriousness.
Well I don't know about that bushdoctor. That shower runs hot water you know. We have a thermostat on it and everything. That little white thing top left of the second picture. Turn it on and set a pre heat and the running temp of the water...Mind it does get a little draughty in the 'den' though. Depending on the prevailing breezes. And since I've got the time right now, here is what my shave den used to look like out there...

Very nice place, you have a magnificent view but outdoor in Aussie there are too many dangerous animals, I'm thinking snakes, spiders and all kind of poisonous animals that you have there in your wild land. Anyway I like your den and so I use something like your but only not outdoor, usually on Sunday I like use that, which is placed in my bedroom.:D
And I so have view like your, from my window, because I live in the country like you.
