I know Bushdoctor has a red one in a crystal bowl. I just got this one for myself. I would like to know if anyone else is using one of these? I have only used mine once and I have fallen in love with it. It just seems better to use it to wipe the lather off the blade mid-shave rather than rinse it in the sink.

Are you wiping on the rim of the bowl? Wouldn't that damage the blade's edge?

I dunno. Unless it is some super-soft plastic/rubber. Looks like a plastic pet bowl, no offence. I will stick to stropping the lather/hairs off on the folded face-towell on the side of the sink untill I see different! Makes it nice to see how effective you are. No chance of damage!
It is made of a soft rubber and I found it at royalshave.com. What I do is a light wipe of the blade on the rim to take off the lather and it goes in the bowl until I rinse it.

Never used that, just a cheap dampened sponge in a container on the sink counter to wipe the cream off on. Don't see why the bowl would not work also. The only thing I don't like is having to shake the water off or putting up with it running down the razor or dripping off when rinsing in water. Using a damp sponge eliminated that for me.

I've never seen the rubber ones but I have seen the old wax ones. In fact, I think there's a pic of one of the wax ones somewhere here in SRP. Looks like the wax sealing rings for toilets.
I also use a sponge, cleans the blade off adequately and once it gets sliced up I simply replace it with a new one a couple times a year. Low budget, simple storage works like a champ.Quote:

I have this same wiping bowl but my preferred method is simply rinsing the blade in hot water.
I clean my sponge after every shaving session and air dry it. I really think some stuff gets overblown but whatever floats your boat.

I also use a sponge, and for the bacteria hysteria it's really not a big deal as I always let the sponge soak in hot water while I shower before shaving. My tapwater holds ~160F which is enough to kill most bacterias, and the ones that by some reason still lives I would probably come in contact with anyhow.....and I might get hit by a car when crossing the road.
I like the drip bowl thing tough, might just order one to try it out :)

i have one works pretty well so good that i thinking another one that i can use when im on the camping.
Its the $3 of $4 more than worth. Is a soft rubber so you dont mess up your edge.

I too use a sponge - use hot water to clean and soak it - periodically put it into the dishwasher a run it through a cycle with the dishes - kills everything.
Aw, you want the ultimate solution? Just do like we folks up here do and just wipe your blade on yer tongue.

Yes, it leaves some lather in the hollow so it cleans the wedges and 1/4 hollows pretty good. Personally I don't see much of a problem with a little left over. I see the drip bowl as a way to reduce the lather until the end. I like to do one rinse at the end.Quote:

....Pyrateknight, i believe you are correct. it does look like hard rubber.......... i contacted Carter and Bond about their Morrocan cleaning bowl and they informed me that it weighes a bit at 120 grams..... so i am sure that it is a denser hard rubber...Quote:
