Nice piece of work! Looks like the intended campaign was one of the Crusades!
Very nice, and matches the larger piece beautifully.
Well done!
Very nice!! Is it lined? I can't tell in the pictures.
That is a beautiful piece of work. I am a woodworker myself, and that is a nice fit and finish.
Any chance of getting a picture with all the goodies in it? Also what did the total weight come out to be? BTW it looks fantastic. I've been gathering ideas for creating one of these for myself.
That does look really nice. Did you put a mirror in the lid?
Love the dovetails and corner hardware.
The dimensions of the box are: 11" X 8" X 3". As for weight, I don't know, but it's 5/8" hardwood, so it's solid. The interior is not lined with anything and the mirror in the lid was cut by the local glass company. Corner hardware (which I antique finished myself with vinegar and heat) was purchased at the local Menard's but the custom latch and ring handle are from Horton Brasses.
That is one sexy looking box.
Beautiful joinery and finish. Like your choice of hardware and wood. What's the purpose of the shaving box? Transport all in one box and having them ready to use when you open box? If it is, then your choice of latch may not work to good. I like the look but the functionality may be lacking ( just saying). I wouldn't want my stuff rolling on the floor with an accidental unlatching of the latch. Double O
