Cherry Lathering Bowl
I recently started trying to turn bowls on my lathe and after turning a few regular bowls I thought "Why not turn myself a lathering bowl" and liked it so I thought I would turn more and see if you guys would be interested. So.....
Here is a Lathering Bowl I recently turned from a Cherry tree I cut down that was in the woods next to the house. The bowl is 5" x 2" with grooves in bottom to help build lather and a slight lip at the top to help keep the lather in the bowl. It has been sealed with 5 coats of Min Wax Clear Gloss Polyurethane to keep the moisture out.
I'm going to try to turn out one of these a week time and your interest permitting.
Price is $40 shipped CONUS. Payment via PayPal. For International shipping please PM or email location for shipping cost.
Money back guarantee if not satisfied.

Looks like an effective design.

I just wish I would have put the grooves in mine but it still lathers fine without them.

Someday I want to try doing something like this. Thank you for the beautiful inspiration!

My very first attempt at turning a bowl didn't go so well. I forgot the first rule of turning, keep the tool rest close to your work. I was gouging out the inside and let my tool hang over the tool rest down inside the bowl about 3" when it hit a knot and "BAMM!" got smacked upside the head with the tool! I was lucky I was wearing a face shield because where the tool hit was at my temple, that could have been real bad, left a hell of a mark on my face shield.................

A lovely piece of work. I might be tempted if I were not addicted to warm lather. I heat a ceramic bowl on top of a candle warmer and use it for building a lather. While I love my warm lather, my bowl is no where near as attractive as your wooden one. Well done!

Another nice looking bowl Bruce! The hickory one I have works great:tu

Thanks for the compliment Sean! Glad yours is working out for you although I do wish I had thought about putting grooves in the bottom of it. Mine doesn't have them either.................

Hey, that's nice work. If you still have one available, I'll take one. Please let me know your paypal info so I can send payment.
Thanks, Ken.

It is a fine looking bowl. I'm a Scuttle man with warm lather. But if I wanted a bowl, this looks like it would fit the bill right nicely. Great job!
