FS Small kiridashi style cutting knife, made by my daughter.
My daughter made her first knife. It is a kiridashi style cutter, but with symmetrical edge geometry instead of one sided like the Japanese style. The steel is 1075. She made this entirely herself. I only helped her with setting up tooling, showing what to do etc. And I did verify the heat treatment after quenching and tempering.
It is finished at 220 grit by her. In order to really make it pop it needs a bit of handsanding but starting at 220 grit and it being 1075, that shouldn't be a big issue. If you want I can sand it lengthwise on a 600 grit belt so final polishing will be trivial.
Selling it like this is a bit of a tradeoff. It would fetch more fully finished, but I don't want to ruin her enthusiasm with handsanding. I sold my first razors in the same way, which allowed me to focus on geometry and grinding, rather than polishing.
She agreed to put it up for auction and just see if someone wants it, rather than demanding a set price. So let's start at 15 USD (FF) and see what happens. That would cover the shipping but in this case I am sponsoring that out of pocket to support her.
