35mm SLR Camera's

I saw an artical recently saying Nikon is ceasing production of film type cameras in favor of digital media.

It brought a tear to my eye. I still hgave my Nikormat I got in 1971 and it works great.

Anyone still use these things or have you all gone digital? Are you having problems sourcing film and developing?

I still have a Nikon F3 in mint condition bought it in 86.
I will always keep it. Have not used it for some years, I like both analogue & digital media.
New is not always better, bit like shaving.
Hope film manufacture continues.

I haven't even tried to count my SLR's rangefinders, film point and shoots, 120's etc. lately. Let's just say there's dozens. Several dozens. I love film, but competent processing has become a problem... I can mail it, or take it to a professional processor downtown, but there is no one here in Camera/Film USA where I can just drop it off and trust the results. Oh, my sweet Voigtlanders..........

There is something to be said about the quality of film compared to the best of the digital these days.

Although I don't use my Nikon 6006 as often, when I do, I pop some 50ISO Fuji film in it and the colors are unreal...once of these days I will have to break it out again and use it...as for developing it, I have a friend who has a dark room which I can use...forget about developing film in most retail outlets.

At work to take pix of tattoos I do I still use a Nikon N90 with a Nikkor 105mm macro lens, and a Nikon Speedight SB25. The local Walgreen's or CVS still has film and develops it. I do want to get a digital Nikon that will work with the auto focus lens mentioned above. One of these days ........

Althouhg I don't use them anymore, I have never sold one of my 35mms. My first was a Mamiya/Sekor - the last they made before going to medium format. Next was a Minolta X-700, onto a Pentax SF-1 then a Nikon N70. More recently, and after I stopped using film, I acquired a Pentax K1000 and a Nikon N55. I cry when I see cameras I once drooled over but knew were unattainalbe now selling on ebay for peanuts. I still have a warm spot in my heart for 35mm but I have to admit the convenience and affordability of processing has won out.

Canon Rebel (film) (also have the digital version), yes i do think canon makes the best 35mm cameras ever
latest on my wish list is a Mamiya 645 AF (medium format).

i would like to have my own dark room so developing film would be more convenient, i used to do my own film in college when i could use their photo lab but now i dont have one but i ALWAYS prefer film to digital. digital may be more convenient but film to me is just better

you ever shoot kodachrome back when it was around? talk about color, the stuff was awesome, so what if there was only one place you can get it devolped it was worth it

I have a Canon 1V that, unfortunately hasn't had a roll of film through it in quite a long time. Same story for a Rollei med format.

I sold my Leica stuff and have regretted it ever since. As much as anything, I just liked the feel of it.
