It is now 6:30 pm. Overcast, no direct sunlight.
I took the razors from last nite, pic taken inside in poor lighting and took them again with a tripod and a 2 count delay.
Let me know what you think of the change in lighting and the resolution.

Oh so "Old English" has been used by several smiths and sellers, from what I gather from old posts (Inc Packwood and apparently the genuine Barber)
The photos are good, but the ambiant light is a bit more flat, and as a matter of pure taste I prefer the morning pictures that are a bit more "vibrant"
And indeed, such beauties...
You can punch them up with your camera app. Depending on the phone they differ but most I've used have options for brightness, contrast, saturation and other adjustments. The main enemy in photos is glare. If you have good focus and at least sufficient light you should be able to tweak them pretty substantially.

My goal when I take a pic is to accurately show all the flaws in the razor. I despise glare that hides pitting on the blade.
Indirect lighting is what I like the best. That's why this last set of pics was taken on a cloudy/overcast day.
I hope to get better at portraying the actual state of the razor.

I know that goes in the complete opposite direction, but I find the light from a lightbox to be borderline cruel in that matter.
They're not that expensive, easy to set up, you can use a diffuser in order to stop the glare.
I have been tempted to get a light box, but I wanted to try indirect lighting first. Once, I sat outside on my patio in full sun but with a 10-foot-diameter umbrella and took pictures of a few razors. The sun bounced off the siding on my house on my left side and the garage behind me and off the same table as I used in this last set of pictures. I held the razors up off the table about 18 inches and got some excellent pics.Quote:
