Making Clarified Butter / Ghee

Somehow I ended up on a search about this stuff :)

I figured heck if I could go get huge hunks of Pig Fat to render into Leaf Lard this has to be way easier :)

Making the Clarified Butter was pretty easy but now I am left to understand that actual Ghee is a more entailed process
Going to try the Clarified Butter for cooking in the Cast Iron, Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel pans

I couldn't find it for sale in our stores up here so I made it myself,, Anyone else ???

I cooked many Middle Eastern dishes that called for ghee. I always cheated and used regular butter. My wife has found ghee at our local grocery store in the organic section.

Been using Ghee for years. I get mine either at Trader's Joe or Walmart. Yes, you can make it yourself but it's pretty cheap from the store and it last me a while cause I also use sesame, olive, coconut or grapeseed oil for cooking depending the dish I'm making.

There are a few places on Etsy (i know, i know...) that sell it. the one place that I got a jar from was excellent quality

I have found it in the Ethnic foods section of many larger supermarkets.
That are usually in the larger cities but even here in 65K city.

I've made it on and off for years. I also used to make my own schmaltz (rendered chicken fat) but living alone it doesn't pay to buy raw whole chickens anymore to harvest the raw chicken fat and save it till you have a large amount to render. Found it on line but a little pricey. But do like Ghee for its many applications.

First use and Loving it :)

Used the Lodge Carbon Steel pans for Eggs and Hashbrowns, they have always been slightly less "Slick" when compared to my Cast Iron so I wanted a test

Amazing results simple wipe out clean up
The Hashbrowns were perfect
The Eggs seem "Lighter" than when I use Peanut oil and Butter
Taste was great
