Luckily I have one already,but I want another.I gave my old Lodge one to a friend in need but Noticed a few years back ,the alarming trend toward this pre seasoned junk.Sign of the Apocolypse I'm tellin ya man.:medvl:

As a member of IDOS I can say that prying a DO off these guys is a tough feat to accomplish :p But everything you can imagine is covered with these groups :)

That's because they know what I know about not being able to get unseasoned cast Iron anywhere anymore...........I can't blame them for being smart as I would probably be the same way.Sign O the times man (sigh).:hmmm:

somewhat change of subject.. but i just noticed tonight at target that calphalon has a cast iron line now.. they've labeled it "kitchen essentials - cast iron" and as silly as it sounds.. i like the design of a few of the pieces..

they have a 10x18 inch griddle that wouldn't take up my entire stove like some of the others out there.

Have to take a look at them next time I get dragged to a Mega Mart, Not something I do willingly...

Price point is quite low from the online sources I saw. But that also makes me nervous, how are they made?

Run your finger along the plate is the test I use. If it feels rough then I leave it alone.

I have seen a few new ones to the mix besides Lodge. They all seemed similar to Lodge, but bigger in price. Perhaps made in China....

They notice that the cast iron is getting popular as people leave teflon yet don't like the way food sticks to stainless.

It would be nice if the Griswold facory or similar quality would come out. I'm sure they could fetch a premium!!

$20 for a 10inch skillet seemed high to me.. i paid $8 for my 10inch john wright and that thing has served me well for over 10 years.. almost daily.
