I quit drinking coffee about 5-6 years ago after being an avid coffee drinker (co-owned a coffeehouse in the mid nineties), roaster of my own beans, espresso machine at home, etc. I quit because I could not regulate my caffeine intake to remain steady enough throughout the week to avoid bad withdrawal headaches fairly regularly.
Enter.......tea!
I transitioned into drinking tea quite easily. Usually black in the AM, then raw Puerh throughout the day and semblance of matcha made from green tea using my blender usually in the evening. Quite content, was I. I've loved the alertness tea had given me without the dragging in the afternoon and no withdrawal headaches to speak of. Tea is subtle. IMO provided a person is consciously aware of its subtleties, it satisfies in many ways.
Re-enter.......coffee.
A few months ago, I could not resist and started drinking coffee again. While coffee is certainly not singular, it's not a "one note" given the many roasts and flavors found in its varietals, coffee is not subtle. Coffee to me is like whisky whereas tea is like wine.
Since drinking coffee daily again, tea hasn't taken a back seat, it's been kicked out of the car. Has anyone else experienced this? I guess at least my collection of raw bing will just continue to mellow.

Giving the Assam from Silk Road a shot. Definitely a tea in need of sweetener, but still very tasty once sweetened. I only have Splenda here at work, but I think I will bring in some of the local sourced honey to use with this and the Darjeerling.
I'm having a mug of Dragon's Eyebrow green tea to start off the holiday weekend. I guess I'm just living la Vida loca. :)
Assam black tea tonight.

Several tin mugs of bushels extra strong black during the course of this slightly cooler winter day here. I expect more will be had as the forecast is for it to get a bit chillier and wetter over the next few days. And no...I'm not dead yet. Just never around much anymore ;).
