I've got the 1805 shaving cream and it is pretty good. I have always been curious as to their balms, so I recently went on a fact finding mission - I found that their balms are full of parabens. Not that it will put me off, but with mixed feeling about it (in this thread among others), I will approach with caution.

My current favourite balm is Weleda's After Shave Balm which paired with MdC or Castle Forbes shave cream works unbelievably well for my skin type.

Good post, rum. Unfortunately, it's the alternative to parabens, Grapefruit seed extract, that I have to look out for. The simvastatin I'm on for cholesterol doesn't agree with it. Though, admittedly, the possible side effects of parabens are disconcerting as well.

Yikes! Think that should be a lesson to me to eat more healthily!

I received a sample of the stuff with an order several months ago...guess it's time to give it a try!

I've been using the 1805 for a few days now. I like it. Wouldn't really say it has ascent at all. Just smells "lotiony" to me, but with all of the other scents competing in my daily routines, it's no big deal. It does a good job moisturizing my face, which is really what I'm interested in.

I use the Trafalgar,,,love it,,,,my favorite balm by far. I wish I could use it everyday, but the price prohibits that.

That's the problem with any balm, the scent is subtle and doesn't last. Probably the reason why I prefer AS splashes. That being said I do love the moisturizing and conditioning properties of T&H, which I'm sure will be great during another cold Canadian Winter.

Truefitt and Hill Classic Aftershave Balm is a winter staple in my rotation. Tried all their line and this is the best. A light scent, excellent cold weather performance, and the 200 ml bottle lasts several seasons. I have several other brands in rotation but this one I will not go without. Highly recommended.
