I know some have health concerns about talc, but regardless, I have some from Taylor on the way and I was wondering if users generally apply it with a brush, or if they just put some in the palm and apply.
I use alcohol free aftershaves and they feel really soothing, but they leave me a little sticky and I love the talc experience at the barber shop. Feels dry and clean.
Plus, if I don't like it on my face, I'll just use it on my "fellows". Thanks!
When I do use talc I tend to use a cheap badger brush to apply it. You could get a cheap makeup brush to use also but as I already had the badger collecting dust I put it to use. I found when I used my hands it was to thick on my skin

The instructions said to rub it in as dabbing leaves splotches of powder that look awful. I use long strokes and gently apply to my face in a downward motion. This way I find my face gets coated evenly and I am not forced to inhale a large plume of talc. I'm not really a believer that it is bad for you but to each their own.

Use talc frequently and apply with a large horsehair brush.
I saw a video where a French barber was using what looked like a cologne bottle with the old style squeeze bulb to spray talc.
The only time I use talc is on my body to help curb sweating with the hot and humid summers we have here in Louisiana. The last couple of weeks I've been using a germacidal soap and stopped using the talc.Quote:

As a geologist, I can tell you that talc sometimes occurs naturally along with some asbestiform minerals, since they are all metamorphic. However, people typically have to work their whole careers in an industry (like roofing or shipbuilding) to be exposed to enough asbestos to end with asbestosis in their lungs, and those industries use nothing but asbestos. Now, I'm not saying that breathing any fine particulate is good for you, but your body does have natural defenses against such. I'm not a big fan of breathing talc or any other fine particulate, but I made it this far (49), so the way I see it I might as well spend the second half of my life enjoying myself more and worrying less, which means that I'm going to put on talc whenever I want. If I think about it, I will run the shave parlor vent fan to mitigate inhalation as much as possible, but I'm not going to worry about it. If you believe everything the EPA says, then you probably won't let your kids color with Crayola crayons because there was some worry about asbestos being in those. I figure when I can accidentally inhale a crayon, then I'll worry about that. I too enjoy the talc on the back of my neck after my bi-annual trip to Harold, my barber.

Agreed! Since I posted this, I got my TOBS Mr Taylor's talc and a sweet Marvy horsehair brush. My post-shaving talc dusting has become one
of my favorite parts of the shave and I roll into work dry and crisp. Big fan of the talc!
