Anyone try it?
Haven't tried olive oil as an after-shave, but I use it (Art of Shaving) almost daily as a pre-shave. I would think that it's based on a light olive oil instead of an extra-virgin variety, though.
Yes,,,,
I fry sliced potatoes in it,,, slightly boil the sclices (skins still on),,, lay flat in a electric skillet, flip once, then apply Lawry's seasoned salt.
Never tried it, I think it would be kinda' greasy as a post shave, and possibly cause some acne. Pre-shave maybe, at least it would get washed off. JMHO
I have had and all my life due to very sensitive skin. I used Olive oil in place of shave cream for over a year and the and acne improved! After the shave I washed it off "lightly" allowing some to remain. It was one of the most comfortable shave ever, but it sure clogged my drain.
I'm no dermatologist, but it seems that often a cause of acne is stripping the natural oils and beneficial bacteria with surfactants. I wash only with real soap: DR Bronner's peppermint. Most of what we call soap isn't. Acne had improved significantly.
Give the Olive oil a try!
Castile soaps use olive oil instead of tallow or glycerin.

Castle soap does indeed use olive oil, though tallow soap would also be beneficial, it tends to be more dying and thus less suitable to sensitive skinl.
Most of what we call soaps are actually detergents. Dove bar "soap" included. (Previously my favorite "soap.") Detergents are petroleum based chemicals designed to break surface tension and cause things like fats to let go of surfaces, just like soap, but more powerful. These chemicals strip our skin and hair follicles of beneficial body oils.
Soap (saponified lipids) removes dirt and oil in the same way but are more mild and less harmful to our sin. Using real soap is beneficial for both skin and hair. Unsurprisingly it is fairly difficult to find and kind of expensive. Dr Bronner's Castille Soap is the brand I use due it's purity, quality, and commercial availability. (Both Rite Aid and Target carry it)
I recommend both real soap and topical use of Olive oil highly.
The previous post is supposed to mention that I've had acne all my life, not "and."

An informative article, if any are interested. Sorry for pulling this thread so off topic.
Olive oil, as well as natural soaps contain beneficial nutrients that are good for the skin. Be proud to smell like a salad! And we're back on topic. BOOM!
A true man would hate to be eaten alive by s fearsome predator; except with full confidence that he were handsome, nutritious, AND delicious.
Try using Jojoba Oil. I use it a lot. Rub it right on your skin. Add it to soaps, shampoos, shaving creams, everything.

Yup, I've used it both as a shaving oil and an aftershave with good results. I would add essential oils to give it a nice scent.
It works quite nice as a preshave, gives the razor a lot of glide. use sparingly. Its is excellent for the skin.
Try searching olive oil, there have been many threads about it.

Will be trying out the extra virgin olive oil out today. I also have sensitive skin. Will try it post shave
I like to mix a little balsamic vinegar with it.
Tried it last night. My skin felt really smooth in the morning. Think I'll try to aply it before bed and shave in the morning.
I find olive oil stays a little 'oily' for longer than I like unless I wash off properly, even after the shave soap rinsed away. I have played with a few of the castors/coconut/jojoba/almond oils in varying ratios but have come to keep the following as constant - for use as pre and post shave if I want it.
Argan oil
Rose hip oil
Aloe Vera oil
Mix the 3 together only by eye in 60 ml bottles No real measurement science. Usually aloe Vera is the smallest volume - maybe 15-20% of the other 2 combined in roughly equal parts.
I keep a few with a couple of different essential oils for scent. Maybe 3-4 bottles of 30-40ml at any one time. Long enough to use for a week or two but short enough to to change scents and mix it up.
I keep a full 60ml bottle with tea tree oil - a few drops only - for the days I get a little irritation or sensitivity. This can often be applied later in the day too if I need it and works wonders for me.
I find argan and rose hip absorb well in about 15 mins - most important for me as it doesn't leave my face shiny or slick for work.
I've used Olive Oil as an aftershave, worked well. I've also tried cold pressed Argan Oil and must say that I like it better. No skin issues.
