I have a large capacity air-compressor installed in the bathroom cabinet for that same purpose. Just kidding. I use tissue paper then a blow dryer, using caution not to heat up the scales. I fashioned a nipple out of a kitchen funnel. This is attached to the business end of the blow dryer, and helps to blow out around the pins. No, a small fan is not too much.
Tissue and a towel and then strop it. It's all good here.
Some canned air does the trick. Most of those clip on fans don't blow much anyway.
Nelson, that's a great suggestion.:bow
Its true, they dont blow much, but its a lot better than nothing, and if they run for 30 min. the help to dry that 1/10 of a drop that is between the steel and the scales...!!!

Have you considered the use of a hairdryer. Its a fan its got some power and you don't have to use heat if you don't want to. Oh and its probably already in your bathroom. Just a thought.
just leaving the razor open after shaving takes care of any drops left in the scales , later on when you walk by it shut it, ya its too much, but its like everything abut this. when your starting out we do a lot of crap we don't need. I wipe mine down with my towel and leave open no issues so far and I live in wet humid Memphis Tc
You mentioned a "Lady" in your previous post. That's why I mentioned it. Most ladies usually have a hair drier or three laying around. In reality I believe tcrideshd 's philosophy is on point. Wipe air dry and forget. As I said once before I don't even oil my razors any more and after a few years no rust or tarnish I can see. When we start we tend to over do a lot of things. But that's part of the fun and gaining experience. All that matters is that you enjoy it.
Buy some good micro fiber towels, then wash them repeatedly, in Borax, you don’t need much ¼ cup, by themselves. Do not wash anything with them or they will get linty.
A ¼ cup of white vinegar in your rinse water, will remove all the soap. It will also clean your washing machine. My bride swears by it and vinegar, makes our towels and sheets clean, and soft.
Most folks say, not to put them in the dryer, but I do, just not for too long or on hot.
The more you wash them, the better they wick moisture. I have some microfibers that are 5-6 years old and still going strong. They need 5-10 washing and drying cycles, before they get super absorbent.
You can get good ones from most Auto Detailing supply or theragcompany.com/detailing. The good ones are thick, cheap are thin.
There are some great videos by The Junkman, auto detailing on what makes a good micro fiber, of course he is talking about detailing cars.
I have also bought great micro fiber, waffle weave towels, from Home Goods in the kitchen hand towel department, problem is colors vary and they sell closeout merchandise, so they probably won’t be there when you go back, but they are cheap, couple dollars for a 3 or 4 pack and they are well made.
Microfibers are great for honing as well, I keep a stack under the bathroom sink and in the shop by the honing bench in a large covered plastic bin.
A good microfiber will dry a razor 99.9 percent dry. I leave my razor open in a glass dish, (vintage butter dish, just the tray) over night.
I avoid letting my razor ever get wet. Lather is wiped off rather than rinsed and so there is little chance of any moisture getting into the pivot.
After finishing the shave, one square of tissue paper is used to wipe off the blade. Then I strop 3-5 strokes on a very lightly mineral oiled newspaper strop to clean and oil the bevels. Finally, the rest of the blade is wiped off with a tyvek cloth that also is very lightly impregnated with mineral oil.
Towel, tissue with mineral oil. I've never ran into any trouble with moisture.
Well my firefighter friend. I live in Puerto Rico. The whole nation is a rain forest. I started wet shaving three months ago and are already into trouble, mineral oil and all...!!!

I have a friend who lives in the swamp in south Louisianna, all he does on his daily shaver is dry it with toilet tissue and leave it open on his dresser for the night, never had any issues, some of the issues with moisture is getting it trapped under your oil. by not having it completely dry before treating it. this is why its important to let it dry before closing it in the scales, the moisture can still be in there and then it will transfer to the blade, like I said , I live in Memphis by the Mississippi river and al I do is after a hot water rinse, I dry it with my microfiber towel and set it out open for a few hours, and no problems after a few years of doing this. only time ive ever gotten rust was when I used mineral oil before it was completely dry and trapped water under the oil, plus the mineral oil after awhile starting breaking down, now most of the time when I put one up for a long spell is I spray it with WD 40, it disperses water and coats the blade, no trouble with this either.
and if your still convinced you need more protection just put your razor in a box with silica packs. or glass jar and silica packs. Tc
Dear Tc;
Thanx for taking the time. I appreciate it.
Thats the whole idea for the fan: to really dry the razor before oiling it. But, maybe you hit the real problem in the backswing. Your friend in the swamp has a "daily shaver". I rotate 7-8. Probably if i used only one i would not be having trouble. Will try it. The problem is that having many razors multiply the fun. Jeje.
Best regards
