So how many use a hot towel after you finish and then for that matter do a cold water rinse. That's what I do. Very invigorating.

No, I don't use hot towels. I'd love to, but can't find the additional time I have in the morning to prepare them.
I do however rinse my face after my last pass with hot water, then of course the cold water rinse, witch hazel, and A/S splash or balm.
Then of course once I'm changed :needcoffee:
Hadn't heard of the practice before. I'll give it a try in the morning.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
That's good :p
Hot steamed towels before the lather
Shave
Hot water rinse
Hot steamed towel
Alum
Freezing cold water rinse
Cold towel
AS Splash...
Can't get any better
Sometimes I like to rub in a nice after shave balm and then put on the hot towel............... and sometimes even follow that with a cold towel.
So much fun!!

I usually like to do a warm rinse to get off excess lather/residue and then usually a blam. The warm is nice because it's usually cold-ish in my apartment (at least in the winter). In the summer, I like a cold rinse and then some super secret AS gel.
I loved the hot towel that I got decades ago with a barber shop shave. I tried the micro-wave pre shave hot towel and for me it was more trouble than it was worth. I've never thought about a post shave hot towel. Bet it cleans the pores big time.
Hot towels are girlie stuff.
Real men use an aftershave balm, skin tonic, light day cream, moisturising protective cream, and some light powder.
I use a hot towel, right out of a hot shower, pre-shave oil, lather, a hot towel right over the lather, re-lather, shave, cold water rinse, a splash of witch hazel, a/s balm, and a spray of edc/edt lower than the shave area, like lower neck and upper chest. Hot towels are a awesome part of the shave.
When I have time to treat myself. I start with a Hot Towel with a few drops of lavender EO on it. Then go through pre-shave, hot lather, shave. Then I will do a Hot towel after. then a cold towel before the AS.
I've never tried this, but I think I will now. I always figured it would inflame the face.
Hot shower, then ice water (it's winter here and the tap water is freezing) to shave and rinse with. Once I learned how to get a great shave with cold water I haven't used hot water since.
Time permitting, I wash my face first to remove oil, then hot microwaved towel 2 or 3 times..face is clean, pores are open and hairs standing straight up. Lather up, shave, hot rinse, hot towel 1 or 2 times followed by 100% pure Shea Butter, leaves my face as smooth and soft as baby butt cheeks!
I have tried this method of E45 cream & a cold towel a couple of times with really good results.

I am still searching for the perfect hot towel method!
Shower hot towel first shave then hot towel 2nd shave rinse with warm water then plenty of cold water. Then i use pfb vanish followed by taylors bay rum plus after shave cream done
I use a cold damp towel after my shaves
I use hot towels before shave and ice water after shave .
I use a hot towel, right out of a hot shower. Hot towels are a awesome part of the shave.
Hmmm, never much time for the hot towel. I think I may have to give it a try over the weekend when I have more time.
I will let you know, I bet its amazing.
I only use cold water after I shave. I used to use hot water but I love the way the cold water feels and now it's just the way I do it.
Ok then, when does one stop with the wet towels, commence with the dry ones and get on with the day?
I go straight for the cold water rinse followed by AS.
I don't use any towels during my shave. (My wife keeps my shave cream and occasional blood away from the linens.)
I do a HWR before the shave and after each pass. At the end I do a CWR before the AS, ASB, etc.
On the few occasions I've gone to the barbershop for a shave, I really enjoyed the steam towels and that final ice water towel. Wakes you up!
I've always heard about the warm water rinse or the hot towel post-shaving but never tried it for myself. Might have to give this a go...
I usually just do a cold water rinse. seems to do the job.
Cold water rinse and after shave. When that cold water hits the skin, it sends a shock through my body and any little cuts or weepers immediately stop and close.
Its invigorating when its summer, but not as much when its cold outside.

I go with a towel that is as cold as I can get it under the sink... (pretty cold at my house)
Hmm.. I have not heard of this method before. I always rinsed right after the shave with a nice, refreshing splash of cold water. However, I am now interested and just might try it out... :D
I've never used hot towels, always a hot rinse immediately after shaving, then alum and a ice cold rinse and a/s or a/s balm to finish.
I rinse off my face with a hot wash cloth, then a cold wash cloth. Alum block, witch hazel then AS.
