Trumper's skin food is among the few products that I have been using non-stop for the last few years. It is excellent. I use both Coral (rose scent) and Limes. They are not very strong smelling (at least not for very long), so I find that there is no problem splashing, say, sandalwood cologne on afterwards.
Do you use it exclusively for your aftershave or with another product?Quote:

I made the mistake of buying the trash can size bottle of both the lime and rose which lasts forever. Three years later I still had them and wound up trashing them because they started to deteriorate. As much as I liked the stuff, to tell you the truth it did nothing for me. I used it as a final aftershave after the witchazel. I've come to the conclusion that most AS Balms are really bombs, read duds.
For me, many products and ideas (e.g. pre-shave oils) are indeed duds, but aftershave balms are not. I would not dream of not applying it after shaving. The times I did, my face felt like it was mummified, very stiff and uncomfortable. A normal aftershave helps (even old spice), but skin food is great. I guess it is all a matter of personal preference, skin type etc.
I really like it and find it works well but I don't use it exclusively. I love the scent of the Limes - I wish it lasted longer. I rotate it with Pre de Provence, Cade, and Proraso ASB. The PdP rules them all!
I use Trumpers sandalwood skin food as an AS balm. I just put a cold towel on my face after shaving, pat my face dry and then put the skin food straight on. Thats all I put on the areas I have shaved.
I dont like greasy feeling balms, and this one really doesnt feel greasy at all. When it dries it leaves your skin feeling smooth, dry and soft. It works great and I cant imagine using anything else! :)
I do put a dab of cologne on the sides of my neck and wrists for the scent though.
I use SF in the Spring and Fall, when I need a little moisture, but not too much. After shaving, I rinse with warm water, then cold water. Then I apply an a/s splash. I let that evaporate while I dress, eat breakfast, etc. Then I apply the Skin Food. In the summer I just use a/s and in winter I use a heavier moisturizer instead of the SF.

I've tried many, and have the same problem. The skin food will go bad probably before I use the all, I have The Rose, Lime and Sandalwood. Sandalwood is the worst btw. There are some good ones by Neutrogena, and Nivea available at Wal Mart, Target, and some supermarkets. Target has their own brand (Every Man Jack) which isn't too bad...I think my favorite is TOBS Sandalwood Luxury Aftershave Gel, This stuff is awesome, Thick, soothing, and smells great, and it lasts a long time, better than most After Shaves. If you've irritated yourself shaving, This is the stuff to use...Other than that one, SPEICK, Great stuff, The balm is good, The Intensiv balm better, much thicker and soothing, also good for irritation. The Speick Lotion is basically witch hazel scented with Speick, so if you buy the lotion, don't be surprised when you get it, and it's a clear liquid...Good stuff, but glorified Witch Hazel....
Now, me, I normally use an Alum Block, rinse, then Witch Hazel...and then my choice of After Shave or maybe a Balm, depending on if I irritated my skin which is rare, but happens, I'll admit it....
If I had to pick just one After Shave Balm, Speick Balm...Smells great, works great...I like the smell so much, I bought the bath soap too....

I have used Trumper's Coral Skin Food for some years and love it. Well, I am a sucker for rose and other flowery but masculine fragrances, anyway.
Yes, Zib is right, the fragrance will eventually lose its quality. Of course, that's generally true with many fragrances: that after time they, in a way, self-destruct.
I think it is always a good idea not to stock up too much of the delicate stuff, such as aftershaves and colognes. I know I have been guilty of that. Slowly, I buy less and less, until at least I finish the stock I have.
