I use a soap dish.

After use, I rinse the alum block with cold water again, pat it dry and store it in its plastic case with the lid open.
I have an alum block by Edwin Jagger, which I use for travel. I had trouble finding a travel case for it, since this block is relative small, smaller than a wooden match box.
I found a small pin box in a sewing products store that works quite well. Here, too, I rinse the alum block with cold water, pat it dry and return it to the plastic pin box with the lid open until I am ready to pack it away in my wet pack and hit the road.

I store mine in the plastic container that it comes in. As Obie has suggested just pat it dry before doing so.
I pat dry, leave out to dry for 10 mins then store in the cardboard box it came with.
I just rinse mine off with cold water and set it on top of a tub of shaving cream on the counter...
