24 hours after

Whats going on all. I have a question that I hope someone here could help me out with. I use taylor of bond sandlewood shaving cream and aftershave balm. Everything is great with it but what happens is almost 24hrs after shaving i breakout around chin area, also gets kind of ashy too. I do have very curly hair. I only make 1 pass in that area and then go back and touch up. FYI I had probs before in same area and neck back when i used disposables. Now I no longer have probs with neck just chin area. Blade is nice and sharp. I use rubbing alcohal on razor before and after use. I am wondering if anyone else has had the same prob and what solutions you may have used. Or if anyone has any suggestions that would be wonderful. thanx :)

I have the same problem. If you can put more days between shaves that may help some. Reducing the number of passes is what really helped me, but it sounds like you're already only doing 1 pass. Maybe try just shaving WTG (with the grain) in that area.

Also, sounds like a good excuse to try some new shave soaps/creams/aftershaves that are geared towards sensitive skin. Let us know what works...

It sounds like you may have dry skin. Make sure you rinse well after shaving and try some water/glycerin based moisturizer or lotion after shaving and maybe some more later on in the day.

Trumpers skin food. Seriously, that stuff helped me a whole bunch! Its good stuff!

A little more industrial is Woody's bump solution. It's really for any irritation and seems to work pretty good. My son uses it.

I may not be the best person to be giving advice here, as my sensitive skin doesn't tolerate daily shaving, so I typically shave every other day. But I would recommend using a very sharp blade, ease up on the pressure (keep it very light). Post shave treatments like balms or skin conditioners can be a life saver (I'll vouch for Stu's favorite, Trumpers Skin Food ;)). Equally as important is your pre shave beard prep. Be sure to choose a soap/cream that works with YOUR skin and work it in really well with a good quality badger brush.

calanor: I've come to depend on aloe vera gel. I have the same problems and the gel soothes and heals and I no longer have the red skin irritation. I always use it after shaving, then halfway thru the day I apply a little more on the areas I use to get the irritation on. Sometimes I use it again at night. Just takes a little. I've grown quite dependent on it.
