What's so bad about styptic pencils? There's a minor sting that lasts for a second or two, but that's about it.
You've got to be shredding your face up pretty badly with your razors if it feels like it's "melting your face" lol

anyone ever notice a healing time differance between using and not using styptic?
Yes, i agree on the triple antibio. I normally cut off bandaid adhesive and apply over cut and antibio. Seems like couple of times stypic slowed down thehealing. Guess i'll pull out my Wade and Bleeder for some experimentation. Big smile edge gets me every time.
When I first started straight razor shaving, I picked up these styptic swabs that look like Q-Tips. You break off the end with the blue band and wait for the liquid to saturate the other end and apply to the nick or cut. Works fast and the stinging is actually quite tolerable.
No pain no gain. It's either deal with the non-stop bleeding and a scabby scar, or take the sting for a second and close up the cut instantly. In my opinion, nothing works better than a styptic, and although you may never need one, it's cheap insurance to have one in the shave den.
I dip the end in hot water before using it, and it helps smooth it out so that it glides over the boo-boo. Hurts so good. ;-)
Hello. i am a new member and why do you leave the styptic pencil in the garage.
Thanks
