Thread: Florida Water as a pre-shave

Have always loved Florida Water as an after shave.
Great minty-menthol fragrance - especially cooling in the summer.
Their website recommends it as a pre-shave.
Tried it and liked it a lot.
Gives me just the excuse I needed to use it all year round.

Florida Water is an old favorite AS. I've never tried it, or anything else, as a pre-shave, but I'll give it a go tonight when I shave for church tomorrow.

I have tried Florida Water in the past and liked it as an aftershave. Not so as a pre-shave. A pre-shave must have sufficient cushioning properties, as well as provide for a good razor glide. Does Florida Water have that?

Pre-shave is part of beard preparation. I should say, for some shavers, especially those with sensitive skin, whereas some find it unnecessary. I find it necessary because of my ultra sensitive skin.

Pre-shave, in addition to lather, combine to prepare the skin for the shave, while also providing the proper cushion and glide. The different elements work together for a comfortable shave.

Castle Forbes, a water soluble pre-shave cream, tops the list in my humble shave den. I also like the pre-shave by Edwin Jagger. There are other brands. I don't recommend pre-shave oils, because I find the oil mucks up the brush and makes things greasy. Some gentlemen, however, like pre-shave oils, and that's fine; to each his own.

I don't know where Florida water falls in all this as a pre-shave, as I have never used it that way, but only as an aftershave pour. Does it have the necessary properties to prepare and cushion the skin, soften the beard, and provide a silky glide for the razor? In that respect, I'm not sure I can hazard a guess.

Florida Water comes with the lore of magical powers, which I find a great marketing tool that started way back. It is a clean and pleasant fragrance, although it does not last long. Google should give you ample information on the stuff. I used a bottle of it years ago and never replenished it.
Again, I don't see it as a pre-shave.

Well, I've drunk water in Florida. Maybe one day I'll try it. I have aftershave stuffs that I inherited and need to use up first. This is interesting, though. This old dog is always trying to learn new tricks.

I could easily say go to Saratoga springs as well i bet they have some cure all shaving water up there too. Hell so many bottled waters why limit oneself. I can assure New Jersey water ain't good for nothing except maybe hair loss or cancer. Once upon a time Agent Orange was made on the banks of the Passaic river I bet that water can exfoliate your face without a razor.

Florida water is made in New York City...who would of thought?
