Noxzema!
I've only tried a couple of pre-shaves, but Noxzema seems to work just as well. If you happen to feel like trying a pre-shave, you might try dipping your toe in the water with this.

I occasionally use Ponds Cold Cream that I added vitamin Email oil to.
I have only ever tried a pre-shave once. It was a Prorasso one and it didn't agree with me. I gave it to a friend and he loved it.
On occasion I have used Trumpers skin food like a pre-shave and even mixed it in with cream and it seems to help a little. That was all when I was first starting out, these days I don't use anything at all.
I have never heard of Noxzema though. Maybe we don't get it in the UK.
I have been using it for some time. I think it was TC that put me on to it. Great stuff.
Aloha!
I've tried many. From Cornhuskers to Proraso. As with all things that touch your skin while shaving, this is a highly subjective topic. What works for one may not work for another. Personally, I really like the Proraso Pre-Shave Cream, and it's what the company was founded upon... the "Miracle Pre-Shave" or "Pre-Barba Miracolo" as the ad says. A Miracle shave driven by the Proraso Pre-Shave Cream. Some guys use other oils and creams and swear by them, others say they are a waste of money and if you use a quality soap/cream to shave with, then that's all you need.
As always, whatever works for you, well, then it works for you, so enjoy!

The jar is the only one I have used so I cannot compare the two. That one seems to work for me. The only reason that I ever tried it was because my wife had a jar that she considered to be too old and she was going to throw it away. Since I'm cheap, and I occasionally wash my face, I told her that I would use it. Eventually I tried it as a pre-shave!
Started using it way way back before I had a wife :) but basically for the same reasoning.
Mom and Sis always had it around and it works awesome as a preshave
I have honestly never bought any other,, I have tried a few I got at the meet ups as testers but seems to go back to simple ole Noxema
I've never bought one either. The advantage of attending many meet-ups is the frequent opportunity for free stuff!
:y
Great stuff when the humidity is 95% and the temps 100! Plus it's 5 tines cheaper than the Proraso pre/post cream and it's the exact same thing. Tc
