I'll try the Tabac
I'm not doing anything. My point is they used to come hard, and now don't, especially the Omega, which worked very well for me before they went soft. I see now that others have complained about his change as well on Amazon. No matter....there are great suggestions here, and I will try a few. Thanks.
Are they leaving extra water in them to be able to sell a 2 oz puck???
Have you noticed if the size has changed?
I just checked my two tubs of Proraso, menthol and sandalwood, and an Omega. None of them I would describe as goo. They are a croap, in between a cream and hard soap, and always have been as far as I know. They are softer than a triple milled soap puck for sure. I have had 4-6 shaves off the Proraso Sandalwood using a boar brush and you can still easily see the rings from being poured into the container.
I use a fairly dry, not sopping wet, brush to load soap onto the brush and then build my lather on my face adding water as needed till I get the lather I want. I do not make the lather on the soap regardless if it is a croap or hard soap. The consistency of the croaps remain the same and do not turn to goo.
All I can say is that if you want a hard soap get a triple milled soap hard soap puck not a croap.

I don't know. It really just seems that instead of producing a hard soap, they've opted for a softer, creamier concoction. Not quite a cream, but not solid either. Some love it, I believe. But I think it substantially reduces the number of shaves you get out of the tub.
That's my experience too Bob, my proraso Croaps, have been that way for 40 years, it was one of my shave soap before the site made me a soap whore. Can't remember if Omega was hard or Croap, it just didn't make the grade so it was gone quick. Proraso is good, just not a hard soap. If your getting Tabac your golden, it's a top rated soap and it still is in my shave den, amongst my MDC. And Castle Forbes. Tc
MWF. Starts out hard, stays hard. I should be a copywriter for Viagra.
Some of my favorite hard soaps are, D.R. Harris(Puck), Palmolive(shave stick), Fine, MdC, I could keep going, but my advice would be to just get away from those soaps then. Like Tc mentioned, soaps that don't make the cut usually get given away to my other shaving buddies to try. Not that they were bad products just not up to my standards.
