If you are going for second or third pass, either ATG or XTG, do you repeat the same pre-shave preparation process? Or to you tone it down a little bit? Thanks!

IME I just re-lather and go for it.
Between passes I usually don't do anything but re-apply lather. The exception occurs when there is something about the original batch of lather that I don't like. Maybe it is too wet/dry or whatever. In that case I correct it and go on to the next pass.
Gentlemen:
I apply pre-shave, lather and proceed to shave. Between passes comes a rinse followed by lather. That works for me. If the lather needs to be adjusted somewhere in the process, I do what's necessary and proceed with lathering. This process seems to work for me.

Obie
I just relather also.
I'm newbie here, but what I did between pass is to make my face wet again then relather, reason is because I'm shave real slow :p so in the end of each pass my face is dry.
updated: oops I skip read, I'm pretty much with what Obie does :)
+1 on the advice offered in previous posts. There's no need to repeat the pre-shave preparation when you repeat passes XTG and/or ATG of the str8 razor.
Just apply water--warm or cold--to your face and/or relather. That should be sufficient.
My first pass WTG is lather only. My XTG and ATG get pre-shave oil. For me, it reduces the irritation to almost nothing.
I keep my lather bowl on a low heat heating pad. I just reapply lather, but warm lather, between shaving passes.
Re-lather with what's in the bowl. I don't do anything else,
but I also don't do any more than two passes.

thanks all. I'll just have to see what works for me. I haven't been able to really get a routine going because a. My brush had to ship from China, so it's taken nearly a month to arrive, which it should be doing this week, and b. my razor had to be sent out to be honed again. But I have a feeling just re-applying rather should be enough to comfortably do a second/third pass. I like the idea of a heating pad to keep the lather warm... I was trying to avoid any "modern" technology in order to keep the shave as authentic as possible, but would also like to use a can of compressed air in order to eliminate all water from the nooks and crannies of the razor... but I just rambling now. Thanks all for the input.
