I have oily skin and was wondering if this means I shouldn't use pre shave oil. Anybody with oily skin care to comment? If so, which would you reccomend?

I too have oily skin and found my self asking the very same question. So I did what most people do who might be new to SRS I used oil, come to find out the one day I decided not to use oil I never used it again. So now on a shave day when in a hot shower I condetion my facial hair growth. It seems to soften it up real nice. After that a nice whipped up lather and that's it for me. Not sure if that helps you.

I have fairly oily skin as well but I have found that the Cade oil from Loccitane works very well. It's much thinner and lighter than the AOS stuff and doesn't gum things up. I'm going to try making some of my own rather than buy any more though. Can't be that hard to save a pile of money on oil. Be ahead of the game even If I don't get it right first or second time (or third, fourth......).
I assume it is like that 3rd pass. If you are happy without it, do not do it. I used the AOS oil and looked up recipes for making my own. I have used a simple combo of castor oil, olive oil and a few drops of tea oil the past 3 shaves and have had great results. I have also read that olive oil helps to condition the skin. I have no idea if that is true but it does feel nice. So, even if you do not need it there may be some advantages of using a homemade oil. It is significantly cheaper at any rate and better, in my opinion.

I'm finding that the oils really kill the lather so I stay away from them and stick to proraso stuff.
