Yes, I have tried glycerin, and glycerin did work, my first SR shave- cream only, no glycerin or anything else. Second SR shave cream and glycerin, pre shave oil, witch hazel and aftershave balm. Third SR shave as second but no oil pre shave and Vaseline and glycerin added to cream. Yes, you're quite right, being a pioneer is important. I don't use a lot of glycerine myself lately, I've been mixing creams and soaps. Soaps by themselves, at this stage (with the limited number I've tried) don't really do it for me...

I didn't use Vaseline today, just pre shave oil, cream and glycerin, usual post shave. I think my skin is a little sorer than yesterday, though I think I cut myself less. Brush cleaned up ok, though my new one should be waiting for me when I get back to camp after my next r&r.

All~ I am the original "culprit" for this thread. I think it may have been glycerin I was using--I threw away the bottles on the day I bought them, since I am using a vintage glass container. Sorry if I created any confusion.

Well, I think Arko cream has vaselin in it ... Really nice stuff anyhow, have to check later... Some guys use it on the blade, when storing razors, saves the edge too, it makes it hard for rust and air/corrassion to eat the sharpnes away.

That solves it then, but I would say that the Vaseline shave cream did leave my face less sore the next day. That being said I still won't be doing it again, thanks Corgi for clearing it up.

Did you use the copy shortcut for all those glycerins, or was it Stanley Kubrick style- he hand typed all the pages of "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy" in the shining, despite only the first few ever being seen in the movie. Oh I had better acknowledge that you are now the winner at glycerins too. :-)

No, you're right, I typed one 'glycerine' complete with comma and space, copied and pasted it several times, then copied that and pasted it several times, then evened up the para, added a line space, backspaced the last comma and typed a full stop, scrolled down, clicked Post Quick Reply and sat back and guffawed quietly to myself...

The Shining is an excellent movie. The plot is excellent but so is the camera movement and angles. I like how Kubrick's movies are all so different but all so the same...
