The only one of these five I've used is the Pinaud, and I think you hit that one spot on. I'll have to see if I can find the Superior 70 to give it a try.

I'm a bit of a bay rum fan myself and have tried many different brands and styles (if you look closely you will see an ancient bay rum barbers bottle behind the shaving mug in my avatar). I really like C-M Michelson's bay rum and I always have a bottle or two of both original and lime Dominica Bay Rum (which, BTW, is made from the distiled oil of Carribean Bay Rum Tree leaves, NOT Noble Laurel Bay leaves. Big difference).

Yes. There is a typo error on the leaflet. It says Noble Bay Laurel, but the actual ingredient in both the original and lime is Pimenta Racemosa, the Carribean Bay.
Noble Bay has a more savory fragrance and is the one used for cooking.
The Carribean Bay is distinctly different with a more warm, spicy fragrance.

BTW, the reason I know this, besides confirmation with the distributor of Dominica Bay Rum, is from first hand experience.
This past summer, I paid a visit to a spice plantation on the island of Grenada. On this island there are literally acres and acres of Carribean bay trees. I was able to take a whole branch of fresh bay leaves and crush them by the handfull under my nose.
For a bay rum fan it was like wading through ambrosia. The scent is unmistakable. If you like bay rum, and ever get a chance to sample fresh Carribean bay, don't pass it up.

Wow, Scott - that's interesting. I love the scent of Bay Rum, and the thought of acres and acres of bay trees - I'll bet that was real fragrant.
So, does the original Bay Rum also have rum in it?

I am in love with the scent, I used to be a brute after shave splash man, for 20-plus yrs. but now im a bay man.
I look forward to finding and trying the dominican, and the 70.
I also have a bottle of plain pinaud but i rarely use it i find myself always reaching for the bay after a coating of coral skin food.

Clubman was my first bay rum and I hadn't used it in years. I've tried many since, but today I re-visited the Clubman.
Familiar scent, and then...what I would describe as the Clubman bay rum "flush." Oooh boy! I'd forgotten about that...:eek:
I just patted it on after shaving, and then just held on for about 20 seconds of intense heat. Not so much burning, no stinging, just heat. Like a very hot towel on my face. Wow! I can see how this could be intimidating for the uninitiated. In fact, for a noobie, it might cause a brief onset of acute anxiety.
I think I like it.

The only Bay Rum I have used is Pinaud and I love it.
